Longacre Durometer w/Pouch - 50540 Racing Tire Hardness Tester Tire hardness has a huge affect on your car's performance. A tire too hard won't bite and a tire too soft may wear quickly or even ball up. Also tire hardness changes during its life cycle. To run your best you must keep track of all your tire's hardnesses. This easy-to-use tool will help you do just that - quickly, accurately & easily.
For the most consistent results rock the durometer from angled back past straight up to angled forward. The pointer will move up to the highest (true) reading, then back down. Record the highest reading reached. The durometer must have a rectangular base to do this properly. If you just push straight down you may get inconsistent and inaccurate results. McLaren P1 – Driven by Jay Leno at the Top Gear track (video)
Tue, 03 Sep 2013Jat Leno (pictured) drives the McLaren P1 at the Top Gear track at Dunsfold We reported just a few days ago that the McLaren P1 has all but sold out, and one of those buyers is America’s petrolhead in chief, Jay Leno. Even though Jay isn’t short of a few bob, he’s not going to be the wealthiest buyer of a P1 (by far), but his celebrity status has conferred on him something most P1 buyers won’t get – the chance to take to the Top Gear track at Dunsofold in the new P1 with McLaren’s Chris Goodwin (Chief Test Driver) riding shotgun. Prior to the run round Dunsfold, Jay gets a tour of the new P1 production centre (perhaps the cleanest car production centre in the UK) before being whisked off to Dunsfold by helicopter.
Land Rover Defender 90 XS by Chelsea Truck
Sat, 04 Aug 2012The Land Rover Defender 90 XS by the Chelsea Truck Company (owned by Kahn Design) is a nice titivation of Land Rover’s iconic off-roader. Kahn Design turn their hand to modifying Land Rovers for the residents of Cheshire, Surrey and Essex – the most recent being the Evoque RS250 Vesuvius Copper – but, under the guise of off-shoot Chelsea Truck Company, Kahn has given the Land Rover defender a bit of a makeover too. Under the bonnet is the familiar 2.2 litre diesel with its adequate 120bhp and 265lb/ft of torque that comes in completely bog-standard setup, but cosmetically Kahn has given the Defender 90 XS some of the frills the regular Defender is missing.
Jaguar XKR unveiled at Detroit auto show 2009
Mon, 12 Jan 2009By Tim Pollard Motor Shows 12 January 2009 22:46 Jaguar has had a busy Detroit, unveiling not just the new XFR super-saloon and its one-off, tricked-up 225mph salt-flats saloon special, but also the revised XK range.Echoing the changes to the XF range (and in the coming months, most of the Jaguar Land Rover range), the 4.2-litre petrol V8 has been upgraded to the new 5.0 V8. Jag calls it the third-gen AJV8, reflecting its growth through the years from its 4.0-litre origins. The latest engine benefits from direct injection for more precise control over the combustion process. The end result?
