Car Design News Awards: Nissan IDx and BMW i3 named best Concept and Production cars

The Nissan IDx and BMW i3 were the recipients of Car Design News' Car Designs of the Year Awards in Geneva last night. This year, for the first time, our Car Design of the Year Awards were voted for by a jury of 12 professional car designers, adding an extra layer of gravitas. Nissan's VP and chief creative officer Shiro Nakamura was at the Car Design Night event at Bypass in Geneva to accept the award.

It may be powered by a hydrogen fuel cell but the Honda FCX Clarity is no work-in-progress; its technology awkwardly shoehorned into an existing model. Nor is it a brittle concept without suspension banned from exceeding 30mph. It's a safety-tested four-seat executive sedan designed from scratch to accommodate hi-tech underpinnings.

Our friends over at Bring a Trailer found an found an unmodified fourth-generation Toyota Supra Turbo, which is almost as good as a priceless barn find that everyone only hears about but never sees. Check out the article, and the arguments over stock versus modified. Executive editor Roger Hart left in the new Dodge Charger SRT8 Super Bee but returned empty-handed.
