New Ford Kuga (2012): Kick a Kuga (or an Escape) +video
Tue, 01 Nov 2011New Ford Kuga / Escape Hands-Free Tailgate - Kick to Open The new 2012 Ford Kuga will debut later this month at the Los Angeles Motor Show (alright, strictly speaking it’s the 2013 Ford Escape – but they’re the same) so Ford has decided to tease the Kuga with its clever tailgate trick. Yes, the new Kuga has a tailgate that has a party trick – it opens when you kick it. Yes, we’ve all hard cars that need their doors kicking to shut them (the new Kuga will do that too), but opening with a kick is a bit of a first.
One Lap of the Web: Barn-find Packards, a vintage Skyline racer and ultra-rare Ford Torino Talledegas
Mon, 28 Oct 2013-- Who doesn't love a good barn find from time to time? Here's a 1929 Packard Model 633 Runabout stashed in a shed in the Adirondacks for half a century that, in true Cinderella fashion, went on to win best in show after a bit of dusting off. Heartwarming.
China to boost electric cars with 30% Government EV fleet
Sun, 20 Jul 2014The BYD E6 EV (pictured) will benefit from China’s push on EVs The UK government has just announced its commitment to use electric cars for its own vehicles in an effort to boost the take-up of EVs, but China is going even further. China has ordered government officials to start buying electric cars (that means BEVs, plug-in hybrids and hydrogen fuel cell cars) in a big way, with instructions that 30 per cent of government cars must fall in to the ‘New Energy’ category by 2017, and an even higher percentage going forward. The aim is to cut pollution, and China expects to have 5 million New Energy cars on the road by 2020 and it is urging it government agencies and some city governments to start buying New Energy vehicles from Chinese makers like BYD and SDAIC, but also instructing them to build more charging stations and supporting infrastructure.
