Lowrance StructureScan HD

In the past boaters and anglers had to choose between further range with less resolution or less range with better resolution- NOT ANYMORE. With a single frequency StructureScan® HD can ranger further with better resolution than ever before! Example:

  • The original Structure Scan(LSS-1) in 10 ft.. of water could cover 60 ft.. to each side- now you can cover 120ft!
  • The new SideScan max range is 600 ft.. over the previous 500 ft.. max.
  • Deep water fishermen will see the most improvement in definition . We were able to improve our max depth and range of the LSS-1 and DOUBLED the definition in

water over 50ft.

How we improved the range and resolution

To get better resolution-

  • Narrower slice of the water column
  • Front to back slice is 3.2 degrees vs. 6 degrees of LSS-1(@455kHz -10 db.)
  • To narrow the beam angle the transducer length was increased

To get more range:

Use only the lower frequency and modified the hardware inside the module.

What makes our scanning system the best

  • We are the only solution with TRUE DownScan combined with SideScan
  • Our transducer has dedicated DownScan elements that look directly below the boat
  • The competition makes you choose between a Side Imaging system or a Down Imaging system- you get the best of both with StructureScan™HD
  • Two transducer system
  • We don’t combine our 83/200 kHz into the Structure Scan transducer because most boats mount the 83/200 kHz transducer where it can perform best at high speeds.

This flexibility allows StructureScan® transducer to be mounted at a higher location to protect it from debris. We include everything you need for a typical

install. To make the competition’s product perform at high speed you need to mount the transducer in harms way or PURCHASE an additional 83/200 kHz transducer PLUS

a “Y” cable. (This is an extra $75-$100 expense)

Network advantage:

The StructureScan® HD module is a 3 device Ethernet Hub. It comes with everything needed to connect one display. To add another display to the network purchase an Ethernet cable and plug one end into the display and the other into the module and your done! The Hub shares multiple types of data

  • StructureScan® HD sonar data
  • 83/200kHz and 50/200kHz sonar data
  • You can view a transducer connected to another display by selecting the sonar source or share a single transducer between 2 displays

Synchronizes waypoints: Not only does it add new waypoints like many competitors but also allows for editing and deletion of the waypoint database

LSS-2 Though Hull Transducers

Lowrance and Simrad Yachting announce the release of new thru-hull bronze transducers and SKU configurations for the new StructureScan® HD Sonar Imaging product line, providing more range and greater resolution.

As with transom-mount LSS-2 StructureScan® HD transducers, the new thru-hull bronze versions deliver extreme target detail, bottom discrimination and bait and game fish separation at depths to 300 ft/92 m and a wider range of 600 ft/183 m side-to-side coverage. All StructureScan® HD transducers are packed with an enhanced dual-frequency element array that operates at 455 kHz and 800 kHz.

These bronze transducers from Airmar® are available only from Navico exclusively for StructureScan® HD and StructureScan® systems. These sturdy, bronze transducers are resistant to the electrical forces in the environment where it will be used. Each feature a low-profile design that minimizes drag; provide exclusive 3-channel beam, port and starboard SideScan plus DownScan Imaging™ technology; includes a high-performance fairing that will give you Structure performance at speeds up to 35 mph; and feature a 30 ft/9 m transducer cable.

For boats with steep or variable deadrise hull angles, consumers must purchase the StructureScan® HD Bronze Thru-Hull Pair (000-10947-001) for seamless display of SideScan and DownScan Imaging. The kit includes the required Y-cable. The single configuration SKU (000-10946-001) cannot be used in a dual or paired installation.

Smart Forvision concept

Smart will unveil its new Forvision concept car at the 2011 Frankfurt motor as the manufacturer continues its preview its future design direction. In the last 12 months the company has revealed its Forspeed and eScooter concepts, with the latest addition designed to keep to the original ForTwo's green specifications. The Forvision uses the latest Smart electric drive system, which Daimler claims will add approximately 20 percent to the range of the current electric Smart, with an EV range of around 110 miles. The vehicle's paintwork and glass can reflect heat – on a hot day it can apparently cool the interior by around 20° C. The concept also has a glass roof, with Daimler is in the process of developing transparent solar charging technology.

Honda CR-Z Hybrid – Tokyo reveal

Wed, 21 Oct 2009

The hybrid Honda CR-Z revealed at Tokyo Although we are on record as not being huge fans of the Honda Insight - Toyota’s saloon hybrid – the CR-Z does look much more promising. You can think of it as an Eco replacement for the successful CR-X of years gone by. But Honda are all too well aware of the major criticisms of the Insight and have taking steps to make the CR-Z more appealing to drive.
