Aston Martin in talks with Mercedes for engine supply
Thu, 09 May 2013It has seemed for some time that Aston Martin’s wish-list for future engines revolved around Mercedes. They currently use a V12 developed from Ford’s Mondeo V6 and a V8 that’s a development of the 4.2 litre that was in Jaguars (and Range Rovers) until a few years ago, but new engines (and new platforms) are vital if Aston are to remain competitive. Vauxhall Astra & Astra Sports Tourer get BiTurbo diesel
Wed, 01 Aug 2012Vauxhall has decided to bolt their BiTurbo diesel engine in to the Astra Hatch and the Astra Sports Tourer. Vauxhall revealed last month that the Astra GTC was getting the frugal but lively 2.0 litre CDTi BiTurbo engine, offering a tempting combination of 53mpg official economy and sub 8 second 0-62mph performance. With levels of economy unthinkable just a few years ago combined with performance a hot hatch would have been proud of, the BiTurbo Astra GTC is a clever combination.
Ford Fusion
Wed, 18 Jan 2012NAIAS saw the unveiling of Ford's new Fusion sedan. By adopting the global 'One Ford' design language, Ford is hoping the midsized sedan will build on its D-segment sales with just one product, with this car also replacing the European-market Mondeo. The Fusion is the first production car to adopt the Kinetic 2.0 design language debuted by the EVOS concept at Frankfurt in 2011.
