Lx5000 Gps And Flight Data System on 2040-parts.com
Chattanooga, Tennessee, US
The LX5000 is a state of the art variometer system, combining the most
modern GPS-technology and a variometer-system proven over the years.
Voltage 9-36 VDC
Power consumption (audio volume zero) approx. 300 mA at 12 volts
Operating temperature -20 to +60 degrees C ( degrees F)
Storing temperature -30 to +80 degrees C ( degrees F)
Dimensions
LX5000 Æ 80mm length 160mm (excluding connector)
approx.220mm (including connector)
Analogue instrument Æ 57mm length 100mm (including connector)
Total weight approx. 1500 grams
GPS receiver 8-channel, parallel
Pressure probes 1 Silizium pressure probe for the altimeter(variometer) and airspeed respectively.
The variometer system consists of
- the total energy compensated variometer,
- the net-relative variometer,
- the interval integrator,
- the speed command,
- the audio generator.
The interval integrator calculates the average rate of climb over a certain time constant which may be selected in the LX5000.
For the most common gliders a list of approximated polars is stored in the LX5000. The speed command signal is generated using the polar you have selected from this list. Additional coefficients for glider polars not contained in the list, may be calculated and stored in the LX5000. You may do this by using the computer program „POLAR EXE" which is contained in the scope of supply.
The signal is available on the analog instrument and on the liquid christal display, as well as through a tone created by the audio generator. The mode and the frequency of the audio tone may be selected in the SETUP program.
The parameters listed below influence the speed command signal:
- The McCready setting,
- the wingload setting,
- the glider polar,
- the wind,
- a correction to the polar, i.e. to compensate for bugs.

BMW i8 production car revealed – costs £99,845: Frankfurt 2013
Tue, 10 Sep 2013The new BMW i8 Hybrid (pictured) will cost £100k in the UK The BMW i8 jas finally arrived in production guise at the Frankfurt Motor show, neatly creating the top end of BMW’s new i-brand range after the BMW i3 underlined the starting point. Looking really quite appealing, the i8 uses the same carbon fibre reinforced plastic bodyshell and aluminium chassis construction as the i3, but whereas the i3 is built to be a city car, the i8 is the closest we’re likely to get to a 21st century version of the BMW M1. Similar in size to the Audi R8, the BMW i8 is a 2+2 with a 3-cylinder 1.5 litre engine and generator sitting at the back and driving the rear wheels and an electric motor at the front driving the front wheels, with a petrol tank at the back and the batteries for the electric motor stored in the centre tunnel.
Infiniti opens on London’s Piccadilly
Mon, 09 Aug 2010Infiniti open for business in London's Piccadilly Nissan’s luxury arm, Infiniti, is on a quest to conquer Europe with its wares. But so far it’s been a little hamstrung with a lack of outlets – just the Infiniti dealers in Reading – and a lack of product to shove under buyers’ noses. Or at least it would seem so.
On video: the world's fastest truck
Thu, 20 Feb 2014This is one lorry that you wouldn't get stuck behind on the motorway - Shockwave is the world's fastest jet-powered truck, with a top speed of almost 400mph. Based on a Peterbilt Semi, the four-ton beast generates 36,000hp and can cover quarter of a mile in six and a half seconds. Power comes from three Pratt & Whitney J34-48 jet engines, each of which produces 12,000hp.
