No engine component has the potential to extend service life as dramatically as the addition of a full flow filter v. the standard oil screen.  Tear down inspection of engines with and without filters (at TBO) consistently shows that more internal hardware remains within service limits on engines with filters.

This Experimental 90 Degree oil filter kit is applicable to  all fixed wing Lycoming engines (O-235 through IO-720) with two fully independent magnetos (even engines from the early 1950's with separate oil cooler adapters).

Identical to our STD'd product w/o FAA paperwork and markings.  Eliminates oil spills when making filter changes without requiring separate drain connections.  Just follow the simple procedure in the installation manual, and not one drop  will be spilled.   Fits most every aircraft, even those with only enough room for an oil screen housing.  Extends engine life over oil screen mesh used on many engines.  Improves access between back of engine and firewall,  improves oil filter accessibility.  Eliminate your oil screen and get real filtration on these expensive engines.  This is the same premium product sold through Aircraft Spruce, Van's Aircraft, Chief Aircraft, Wag Aero, Stoddard's Aircraft Parts, and other major general aviation parts houses.

New manufacture from CASPER LABS, INC.  AS9100:2001/ISO9001:2000 certified precision investment casting (includes X-ray and Dye penetrant inspection) assures + or -.005 inch dimensional accuracy as cast. This process produces parts far superior to Lycoming OEM cast components, satisfaction guaranteed.

This kit DOES NOT include a filter, vernatherm valve, or probe adapter (shown for visualization purposes only).  For experimental category aircraft we recommend use of what we call the "Minifilter" (shown at left of gallery view) which will be available as a local purchase.  The kit includes filter housing, detailed instructions, and all small parts needed for basic installation.

** Experimental category Lycoming O-320H2AD engine (double magneto combined into one housing with a single drive connection) users interested in using this kit should contact us.  It is possible to make a very minor modification (to the OEM oil cooler adapter fitted to this engine) to provide bolt on 90 degree filter capability. Owners of engines  certificated in categories other than the "EXPERIMENTAL" category should NOT contact us regarding this modification.  Due to the limited market for this application, we have no intention of persuing an FAA STC.

Call us before bidding to discuss application to your specific aircraft/engine (561-575-3157 8AM-6PM ET).  Athough this kit fits virtually all Lycoming engined aircraft, there are a few engine mount designs that prohibit installation, and some that require optional spacers (typically Van's Aircraft)Also, check with us first to avoid situations where minor parts (temp. probe adapters, plugs, etc.) will cause time consuming delay chasing small parts when installing the kit (stocked @ Casper Labs).  We maintain a large library of installation photos to help you visualize how it will fit on your plane.  This could save time and shipping after the fact.

As Autumn Term Starts IAM Warns Drivers Of Distracted Youngsters

Wed, 03 Sep 2014

LEADING road safety charity the Institute of Advanced Motorists (IAM) has issued a warning to drivers to stay on their guard on their daily commute, as distracted youngsters make their way home from school at the start of the autumn term. Many schools in England return from the summer break this week, and as is the case each year the risk of an accident becomes significantly greater as the school run brings with it a 20 per cent growth in rush hour traffic. While much has been said about watching out for youngsters on their way to school, the IAM has warned that a greater risk comes on the way home from school – where under 16’s are more likely to be distracted by playing with their friends, listening to music or interacting on social media on their phones.

VL Destino revealed - what became of the Fisker Karma

Fri, 10 Jan 2014

VL This is the new face of the Fisker Karma, the luxury plug-in hybrid whose parent company went to the wall last year. But it’s not only the Karma’s gap-toothed grin that’s disappeared: its plug-in hybrid powertrain has bitten the dust, too, replaced by a GM-sourced V8 – a supercharged lump boasting 638hp and 640lb ft. Called the VL Destino, the wilder Karma will be shown at this month’s North American International Auto Show, aka the Detroit Motor Show.

Skoda Fabia (2006): first official pictures

Tue, 12 Dec 2006

By Tim Pollard First Official Pictures 12 December 2006 11:30 Skoda Fabia: the lowdown The Skoda Fabia is growing up. The second generation of the supermini will roll into UK showrooms in May 2007 – and Skoda promises it’s bigger, better equipped and safer than before. The new Fabia is less wacky looking than the cut ’n’ shut Roomster mini-MPV, but shares that car’s new family face, framed by large swept-back headlamps and a prominent grille.
