Condition:For parts or not working

I was going to rebuild and acquire the necessary parts to use this on a project. But that is now long gone and this has been sitting ever since. This is an old Whipple Twin Screw compressor originally designed for a 1996 - 2000 GM Pickup or SUV equipped with a 7.4L / 454 Ci engine and on marine applications with the same engine as well. If I don't get rid of it, it'll never get used. And that isn't doing this little bit of awesome-sauce any good. This compressor DOES NOT come with the pulley or snout, nor does it include the air horn, bracketry, mounts, etc. The person I received this from took it apart to rebuild and managed to lose all the helpful parts.

Lysholm's new Compressor is the 1600AX, and it looks identical. I wouldn't doubt there are lots of parts from them that could be used to fix this one. I just haven't given the effort to research that.

One Lap of the Web: a drifting luxobarge and an 80s hot hatch

Wed, 11 Dec 2013

-- If you've been wondering for the past few months since the release of the 2014 Mercedes-Benz S-class what it would look like if it was forced to drift around a racetrack (and who hasn't?) along with a Nissan 200SX drift machine, this video should answer that question. -- Remember the Shelby GLHS of the late 1980s? Those things were powered almost entirely by turbos, it seemed, and the whoosh they made is epic even by today's standards.

What We Drive: 1963 Pontiac Star Chief

Fri, 13 May 2011

I wouldn't say it was a sad hunk of Detroit iron, but the 1963 Pontiac Star Chief definitely looked lonely when I discovered it in a Michigander's backyard while delivering pizzas. It wasn't covered, and there was no For Sale sign, but I could tell it needed a home. The paint on the side of the car was in good condition, as far as I could tell.
