VW Golf R 400 (2014) first picture

Wed, 16 Apr 2014

By Damion Smy First Official Pictures 16 April 2014 23:01 VW just has to make this car! The VW Golf R 400 is the most ballistic, angry VW Golf that the factory has ever built – as quick as the VW Vision GTI Concept but based on the current Golf R, so it seems tantalisingly viable for production. With a ridiculous 3.9sec 0-62mph claim, the ‘400’, named after its Porsche 911 Carrera S-matching 400PS (395bhp), will rocket into the Beijing motor show to say ‘Cop this, A45 AMG’.

MINI celebrates 100 years of car production in Oxford

Fri, 08 Mar 2013

MINI will be celebrating a century of car production in Oxford on 28th March 2013, 100 years since the first Bullnose Morris Oxford was produced. It’s 100 years since the first Bullnose Morris Oxford rolled out on 28th March 1903, since when 11,655,000 cars have been built – with as many as 28,000 people employed in its heyday – and even Tiger Moth planes and Iron Lungs built alongside 80,000 repairs to Spitfires and Hurricanes during WWII. What is now MINI’s Plant Oxford was founded by William Morris – and Morris Motors kept control until 1952 – and has been owned and run by BMC, then British Motor Holdings (when Jaguar arrived), British Leyland (when Leyland Trucks, Triumph and Rover joined), nationalisation in the 1970s saw a variety of names, Rover Group arrived in 1986 and was subsequently privatised and sold in 1994 to BMW.

Tue, 05 Dec 2006

By Phil McNamara First Official Pictures 05 December 2006 09:00 Facelifted C-Max: the lowdown It's facelift time for Ford's C-Max, three years after it was launched. And the look is in keeping with the newly anointed European Car of the Year, the S-Max. So there's a new bonnet with more sculpture, funkier headlamps and a new grille with lashings of chrome.
