New diesel engine for revised Meriva

The quieter, smoother and more efficient engine replaces the aging 1.7-litre unit that had been in service across the Vauxhall, Chevrolet and other General Motors brands for many years. The move aims to goose sales of the luxury roadster two years after it first hit showrooms. The SL400 is powered by Mercedes-Benz's twin-turbocharged 3.0-liter V6 direct-injection gasoline engine unveiled in the E400 early last year.
