Nissan Celebrates 80 Years
Tue, 19 Nov 2013Nissan held a little gathering at its Yokohama headquarters two nights before the Tokyo Motor Show opened to celebrate 80 years of building cars. It has been making them longer than any other Japanese manufacturer. CEO Carlos Ghosn, who can do everything except maybe juggle, addressed a crowd of several hundred executives, suppliers, car club members and even some media, giving his remarks in what sounded like pretty good Japanese.

Mon, 14 Sep 2009Toyota has revealed the revised Land Cruiser for 2010 But times move on, and Toyota has decided a modest facelift and a re-vamp is called for, and they have released details of the changes for their most iconic model, which will launch at the Frankfurt Motor Show this week, and go on sale in the UK in December. There are a number of styling tweaks inside and out to keep the venerable Land Cruiser fresh, including a revised dash and trim and tweaks to the bumpers and lights. But the biggest news – at least in the UK – is that the Land Cruiser will come with just one engine option – the 3.0 litre D-4D diesel with a five-speed auto-box.
Detroit Electric delays SP:01 again
Mon, 26 Aug 2013Detroit Electric, the new startup with an old name, said it is delaying production because it hasn't secured a lease or purchase agreement for its manufacturing facility in Plymouth, Mich. It is also talking to some new partners, though the company declined to name them. North American president Don Graunstadt told the Detroit News, “To further elaborate at this juncture is, unfortunately, not possible as Detroit Electric have entered into negotiations with other parties that have the potential to impact our business strategy and timing,” Graunstadt said.
