(2) VINTAGE ORIGINAL MAGNESIUM HALIBRAND INDY-500 "SPEEDWAY" WHEELS...VERY RARE "INDY / CHAMP CAR" STYLE...15"X 14"
CONDITION: VERY NICE...USED...SOLD AS-IS!
SIZE: 15"x 14.00" BACKSPACES: (#5)...5 7/8" (#6)...6 7/8"
PIN-PATTERN: 6 on 5.0" (FITS: EARLY MODEL "INDY CARS"...AND EARLY AND LATE MODEL "SPRINT OR CHAMP CARS"...AND ANYTHING ELSE THAT USES A 6 ON 5.0" KNOCK-OFF PIN PATTERN)
WHAT I AM SELLING HERE IS A HARD TO FIND PAIR OF "6-SPOKE" MAGNESIUM INDY-500 SPEEDWAY WHEELS...IN THE VERY RARE 15"x 14" SIZE!
THIS STYLE OF WHEEL FIRST STARTED SHOWING UP ON THE "INDY" CARS IN THE LATE 1960's...AND THEY WERE SUBSEQUENTLY USED ON THE "SPRINT" & "CHAMP" CARS ALL THE WAY UP THROUGH THE LATE 1970's! THEY WERE USED QUITE PREVALENTLY DURING THE "TIRE WARS" OF THE 1960's & 1970's, WHEN FIRESTONE AND GOODYEAR WERE BOTH BATTLING IT OUT FOR DOMINANCE OF THE INDY CAR RACING TIRE MARKET!
THE CENTER DESIGN FOR THIS WHEEL WAS EVEN USED LATER ON BY "SPEEDWAY" TO MAKE THEIR FAMOUS "2-PIECE" MAGNESIUM AND STEEL RACING WHEELS!
THIS PAIR IS EXCEPTIONALLY RARE, BECAUSE THEY MEASURES 15"X 14"...WHICH I BELIEVE IS THE WIDEST THEY WERE EVER MADE IN! FROM THE RESEARCH I HAVE DONE, IT APPEARS THAT THESE WHEELS WERE USED IN "U.S.A.C." SANCTIONED RACING EVENTS BEGINNING IN 1969, AS THEY BOTH STILL HAVE THEIR "U.S.A.C." INSPECTION SERIAL NUMBERS STAMPED INTO THEM! WHEEL #6 SHOWS THE SERIAL NUMBER "69641", WHICH MEANS THAT IT WAS INSPECTED AND SANCTIONED FOR USE IN "U.S.A.C" RACING EVENTS IN 1969...AND WHEEL #5 SHOWS THE SERIAL NUMBER "70516", WHICH MEANS THAT IT WAS INSPECTED AND SANCTIONED FOR USE IN "U.S.A.C." RACING EVENTS IN 1970! IN ADDITION, WHEEL #6 HAS WRITTEN ON THE INSIDE OF IT A SHIPPING ADDRESS THAT SAYS, "GOODYEAR RACING DIV" "PHOENIX, ARIZ"! PERHAPS THIS IS ONE OF THE WHEELS THAT GOODYEAR WAS USING TO DO SOME TIRE TESTING AT THE "PHOENIX INTERNATIONAL RACEWAY" IN 1969?
WHAT'S ALSO KIND OF NICE ABOUT THESE PARTICULAR WHEELS, IS THAT THEY WERE PROBABLY ONLY USED ON AN "INDY" CAR...AS NEITHER OF THEM SHOW ANY SIGNS OF EVER HAVING BEEN IN A WRECK! IT WAS VERY COMMON FOR THESE WHEELS TO END UP IN THE HANDS OF "SPRINT" CAR RACERS ONCE THEY BECAME OBSOLETE FOR "INDY" USE...AND IF THEY WERE EVER USED FOR A "SPRINT" CAR OR "CHAMP" CAR RACE, THEY WILL ALMOST ALWAYS SHOW SOME SIGNS OF DAMAGE FROM HAVING COLLIDED WITH ANOTHER CAR, OR TRACK WALL!
THAT'S ABOUT ALL I KNOW ABOUT THESE WHEELS, SO WHAT YOU SEE...IS WHAT YOU GET!
PLEASE LOOK THE PHOTOS OVER, AND THEN CONTACT ME IF YOU HAVE ANY QUESTIONS...OR NEED TO SEE MORE PIX!
I HAVE ANOTHER (60) HALIBRAND MAGNESIUM WHEELS...APPROXIMATELY (200) AMERICAN RACING WHEELS IN BOTH MAGNESIUM AND ALUMINUM...(80) SLOT-MAGS IN VARYING SIZES AND BOLT-PATTERNS...AND A LOT OF EVERYTHING ELSE WHEN IT COMES TO WHEELS. I'M GONNA SELL 'EM ALL...SO BOOKMARK ME AS A FAVORITE SELLER...OR KEEP AN EYE OUT FOR MY AUCTIONS. HERE'S YOUR CHANCE. BID FAIR, AND BID FAST...AS I DO END AUCTIONS EARLY!

Late to the Fiesta: Ford offers $50 gift cards to buyers whose cars are late
Tue, 17 Aug 2010Ford is giving a $50 Ford gift card to buyers of the 2011 Ford Fiesta who have had to wait longer than expected for their vehicles to be delivered. Ford spokeswoman Angie Kozleski confirmed that the company was giving the MasterCard gift cards to customers who ordered the new Fiesta, calling it “a token of our appreciation for their patience.” Ford couldn't disclose how many cards it is distributing, but said retail customers who reserved or placed an order for the new Fiesta would receive one. Fiestas have been slow to get to dealerships after a hurricane that hit Mexico in June crippled rail lines used to ship vehicles made at Ford's plant in Cuautitlan, near Mexico City.
