Manual Tran Shifter Mounting Grommets Monza Skyhawk Starfire Sunbird Astre Vega on 2040-parts.com
Glenwood, Illinois, US
Here is a set of 3 grommets for 70's GM H body cars with a 3 or 4 speed manual transmission. These are a highly overlooked but an important part for the shifter mounting. These grommets are installed between the shifter mounting bracket and the floor. I can guarantee that after 35 to 40 years of use they are hard and brittle and ready to disintegrate. They are subjected to a lot of heat up in the trans tunnel and that adds to their demise. They have probably never checked but they are responsible for holding and controlling the shifter bracket while allowing some movement between the shifter and the transmission which of course moves around a bit during normal operation. Replacing these can help restore proper shifting and feel. I am also including a picture of the shifter mounting plate to show where they go, this is for reference only. The auction is for the 3 grommets only.

Still called Ka, the new model will make its show debut at Paris in autumn 2008, before going on sale in the UK by the end of the year. The underpinnings are, of course, from the Fiat 500, but Blue Oval engineers have tweaked the chassis to give the Ka a proper Ford feel, they say.
