New Porsche 911 Club Coupe revealed
Sat, 26 May 2012New Porsche 911 Club Coupe - just 13 being made Porsche built its first car in 1948 and it took just four years for the very first Porsche Club to arrive - Porsche Club Westfalen. To celebrate 60 years of Porsche Clubs, Porsche is building a very limited edition 911 – the Porsche 911 Club Coupe – which will be revealed at the opening of a special exhibition at the Porsche Museum in Stuttgart tomorrow – 26th May 2012 – and just thirteen 911 Club Coupes are being built. Although the collaboration between Porsche Clubs and Porsche Exclusive will yield thirteen cars just twelve will be up for grabs and they will be allocated by ballot, with the thirteenth car staying in the Porsche Museum.
Saab reportedly bought by Chinese-led consortium
Fri, 08 Jun 2012A Chinese-controlled consortium has completed a deal to buy the assets of bankrupt Swedish carmaker Saab, media reports said. National Electric Vehicle Sweden (NEVS) will pay 1.5 billion to 1.8 billion kronor ($210 million to $250 million) for Saab, excluding spare parts company Saab Automobile Parts AB, according to reports in Sweden. NEVS did not confirm the reports.
Jason Castriota to head Saab Design
Thu, 24 Jun 2010When Car Design News spoke to Jason Castriota about the new design consultancy he had set up in New York and Turin back in March, the designer told us he was working on a very exciting automotive project that he couldn't talk about at the time. It turns out that automotive project was for Saab, as last week the Swedish automaker announced it had hired Jason Castriota Design to oversee the development of a new generation of Saab products – the first to be completed under the tenure of its new owners, Spyker. Castriota's new appointment marks the shift from Saab's former position – where the brand was an integrated company within GM – to its newfound placement as an independent automaker, with Castriota essentially filling the role previously occupied by Mark Adams, GM Europe's Vice President of Design.
