There is not much negative to say about this top, a small abrasion and nick in the paint along the leading edge where it doesn't show and a small scuff in the paint on top about cover it, all too small and unnoticeable to photograph.

I purchased this in '08 intending to make a customized matte black top for my red '90 out of it, never happened.  It has been stored as long as I have owned it, was very dusty and had acquired a few squatter spiders.  It could still use a picky detailing with some Q tips.

I am not completely certain which year it was manufactured and - if memory serves me correctly - the people I bought it from were not certain, either.  I know it fit the '92 I picked it up in but I seem to recall that there were some extra latches that were not required, either on the car or on the top.  Mariner Blue was only offered for 4 years and it's the original paint.  Look at the pics, if you have questions about compatibility ask and we will work it out.  I found a forum once with a very detailed explanation of which latches are required for which years, have long since forgotten where but I'm sure it's still accessible.

I have never connected the defroster so cannot vouch for its operability, but have no reason to think it won't heat given a compatible model.

It could use a new set of rubber pads that rest between the metal latch and the car finish at the back, they have tiny rubber probes that hold them to the latches and several of these have broken off so the pads flop around and could easily become misaligned while installing the top.  See pics A and B, the pads are where they should be in these photos.  The OEM top for my '90 has the same issue.

Pics C and D show all the latches at the rearmost end of the top, E and F show the latches that fall just behind the driver and passenger side windows and the defroster connection.  G and H show the forwardmost latches that connect above the windshield.  (For some reason, pic E looks really rough, sort of worn and rusty.  Believe me, it's the light, they are all fine and anyway the interior of the latches don't show when the latch is closed.  All the rubber would look better with a little silicone finish, but it's all as flexible as new.)

Although I expect this will be picked up, if the winner would like me to deliver it to a pack & ship place and will pay for it I would be happy to do that.  And, although it would be slightly inconvenient, I could also store this at my home for some future date when you will be passing thru the area or have a friend who will be.  Of course, even in this scenario, the payment deadlines would still have to be adhered to.

A PayPal deposit of $250 is expected within 48 hours, the balance is expected within 7 days.  I will take a personal check for the balance as long as I receive the check within 7 days and the item does not leave my hands until 5 business days after I deposit the check.

Absolute, fair, honest auction, no early ending, the high bidder gets the top.  I am not bidding on it, I have no friends who are bidding on it.  Good luck!

Rise in illegal 'clocking'

Tue, 15 Apr 2014

MORE ‘CLOCKED’ cars are on the UK’s roads now after a rise in 2013 of cars with discrepancies in their recorded mileages. Experts say this signals a worrying trend of more dishonest car sellers ‘clocking’, or falsifying, a car’s mileage to make more money when the sell it. There had been a drop in the number of recorded incidences of clocking.
