This is a trunk lock vacuum actuator I pulled from a W126 in a junkyard a few years ago in the hopes that it would fit the W123 I was driving at the time. Wasn't even close, so into the closet it went.

I don't have access to a running W126 so I can't test it under load, but it does retract when hooked up to a MityVac and holds 25 inches of vacuum for at least 20 minutes.

The W126 had a long production run and it seems there were a number of variations on this part, so make sure the one in your trunk looks like this one.

Mercedes' new 2012 SL will weigh a solid 140kg less than today's SL roadster - a significant saving of some 8%. This crash diet has been enabled by the adoption of aluminium for the new SL. The learnings from the SLS gullwing are now trickling down to the higher-volume SL, which will be revealed in December 2011.

One Porsche at this year's Pebble Beach Concours d'Elegance will be making its second appearance. And it will be easy to find--it's the one that looks a bit used. The 1956 Porsche 356 1500 GS Carrera coupe made its Pebble debut in 1956 at the road races.

Enjoy this forgotten toy car TV show from the 1980s

Thu, 24 Oct 2013

We'd remembered being fans of a car-centered TV show in the late 1980s or early '90s. We'd watched every live-action episode for at least a couple of years. We'd clearly remember begging our mom for one of the toy cars featured on the show.
