This is a central locking vacuum pump part# 2108003048 removed from my 2002 Mercedes E430.
This pump does not function correctly. You can repair or rebuild it or use it for parts. When this pump is installed in my car, central locks don't work, and the Mercedes Handheld tester connects to the pump (so the pump's electronics seem to be ok) and the pump gives an error message of "air demand too high" -- which makes me think there's either an internal leak or a blown pump motor. With its bold grille generating plenty of column inches, the premium Japanese car maker has decided to remodel the car’s nose slightly as it continues on its path towards eventual production status.
