This is a good, functioning EZL ignition module that works with late production 4.2L Mercedes M119.97x engine with LH electronic fuel injection, as detailed below. This EZL has been tested on my personal car... the engine starts & runs fine with it installed. All previous DTC's (diagnostic trouble codes) have been cleared/reset; this unit is ready for installation on your car. I guarantee the unit is not DOA, but there is no warranty otherwise. The current list price on this unit from Mercedes is $1500 USD, and approximately $1200 wholesale. This module will work with the following vehicles only:

  • 124 chassis: 1993 400E, 1994-1995 E420 - As of chassis number B965057 (see exceptions in photos below)
  • 140 chassis: 1992-1993 400SE & 400SEL, 1994-1995 S420 - As of chassis number A135976 (see exceptions in photos below)
If you are not sure if this module will work on your car, please email me the make, year, model, VIN, and the part number of your current EZL. Pick this module up as a spare for a fraction of the cost of a new one - don't get stranded in the middle of nowhere with a failed EZL!

Unlike the 5.0L ignition modules, the 4.2L EZL will NOT interchange other part number EZL's. If your car came from the factory with EZL number 015-545-60-32, that is the exact part number it requires when replacing the defective original. The 5.0L engines have lower compression and completely different ignition maps.

EZL Return Policy: This EZL can be returned for the following reasons:
  1. If you receive the wrong item
  2. If the item is not as described
Returns for any other reason will incur a 10% restocking fee. You will receive a money back refund ONLY if the item is returned in original condition (i.e., undamaged and functional). Sorry, shipping and handling fees are not refundable. Please note that EZL's can be damaged by defective/failing ignition coils, and both ignition coils should be replaced prior to installing the new EZL.

Beware other sellers who offer their untested EZL modules "as-is", with no guarantee the module won't arrive DOA; or sellers who do not specify a refund policy!!

Also beware of sellers who claim their EZL's fit both 4.2L and 5.0L engines, this is NOT correct... the EZL must match engine displacement.

Please email me with any questions - thanks!

General Motors EN-V to be branded Chevrolet

Thu, 13 Oct 2011

Chevrolet was gifted a centennial birthday present today, with parent company GM announcing that its 2030 Vision concept would carry the bow-tie badge. The youthful orientation and entry level positioning of Chevrolet within the GM portfolio subtly earmarks the intended audience for the EN-V, with the device being billed as an inexpensive and attainable urban mobility vehicle. "The EN-V has the potential to reinvent transportation in key markets by creating a new vehicle DNA through the convergence of electrification and connectivity," said Chris Borroni-Bird, GM's director of Advanced Technology Vehicle Concepts.
