Silverstone unveils new F1 Circuit
Sat, 01 May 2010The new Silverstone F1 Circuit was revealed this week Bernie will be pleased It’s been a bit of a saga for Silverstone and the BRDC of late, with a backwards and forwards ‘will-they, won’t-they’ get to host the British Grand Prix going forward. Bernie Ecclestone finally announced that Silverstone would host the 2010 British Grand Prix back in December - although it could be argued only by default after Donnington went belly-up – and the circuit upgrades are nicely in time for the 2010 British Grand Prix in July. Prince Andrew did the official opening on Thursday and got the chance to lap the track in a 2-seater F1 car with Damon Hill at the wheel and former F1 driver – and now BBC pundit – David Coulthard also on track in a Red Bull.

The 1960 Maserati Tipo 61/60 Birdcage stands for a creative streak in Maserati's design. It was originally built for legendary Le Mans racer Briggs Cunningham, now a member of the International Motorsports Hall of Fame, and competed at Sebring in 1960.
BMW set to go front-wheel drive
Wed, 17 Mar 2010BMW chairman Norbert Reithofer has confirmed that the German carmaker will introduce a new front-wheel-drive entry-level model positioned and priced below the existing 1-series as part of plans to help increase part sharing and to bolster the potential for production savings between the BMW and Mini brands, thus bringing an end to the era of rear- and four-wheel-drive-only BMW models. Speaking to AutoWeek at the Geneva motor show, Reithofer said internal BMW studies revealed that despite the downturn in the world's economy, there was continued demand for what he described as "premium vehicles" in the small-car class, before officially acknowledging plans that will see BMW produce a rival to the recently unveiled Audi A1 and a new Smart Forfour presently under development at Mercedes-Benz. "We will be extending the BMW and Mini brands into the small-car segment with new models and variants," he said.
