This is a very rare item that is in good condition.
Manufacturer Part Number:0000942208/0030944602 Surface Finish:Chrome Other Part Number:0000943308 (updated number for carb housing.) Warranty:Yes Placement on Vehicle:Front

This is a very rare item.  A factory chrome plated air cleaner for the W111 that uses the twin Solex carb set-up.

This was pulled from a 1965 220s.  If you  wanted something that was easier to keep clean than the standard air cleaner this is what the dealer offered.  Very few of these were purchased and today they are quite rare.

As you can see this has some pitting and small rust spots here and there, mostly on the undersides where it did not get cleaned on a regular basis.

This includes the two pieces you see and nothing more.  The canister part of the air cleaner had rusted away so it is not included.  Only the top part of the canister survived.  The part that attaches to the two carbs is included and you can see that it is just a screw down fit.  The screws are not included.   There is also a rubber connecting hose between the two.  It is also not included.  All you will be bidding on are the two parts you see.

I have tried to capture the worst parts of the chrome.  But these can be replated or renewed with various products made for redoing chrome.  I chose not to take any steps at restoration so you could see the actual condition of these two parts.

Please note that while there are three part numbers there are only two parts.  This is because one of the part numbers has been changed from the original.

Shipping is available worldwide but overseas shipping will be quite expensive due to the size of these two items.  Please request a shipping quote prior to bidding if you live outside the lower 48 US states.  Please note that due to several Post Offices losing items the only way this will be shipped to an address outside of the US is by Priority Mail which is insured and tracked.  This is rather expensive.

Questions and comments are always welcomed.

Mazda gave its Mazda6 its world debut today at the 2012 Moscow auto show. The Mazda6, which is the production version of the Mazda Takeri concept first seen at the Tokyo motor show last year, follows the automaker's new ‘KODO - Soul of Motion' design language. The Mazda6, which measures in at 4,800mm long, 1,840mm wide, 1,450mm high with a wheelbase of 2,830mm, features the ‘signature wing' - an element of the new design language - set into the front, while the creases extending from the tips flow into body character lines.

Infiniti Steer-by-Wire on the way (video)

Wed, 17 Oct 2012

Nissan has revealed that it plans to install an electronic steer-by-wire system in to its Infiniti models in 2013. As car makers seek to squeeze every last fraction of a mile out of their cars to hit economy and emissions targets, computer control of many of a car’s functions are controlled by computer, which means the official tests for economy and emissions can be guaranteed to produce predictable results. Now Nissan are to take electronic steering to its logical conclusion by eliminating any direct connection between the steering wheel and the front wheels (except in an emergency) with the first fly-by-wire steering system in a production car.
