Offered to serious collectors is this Mercedes-Benz w 126 chassis custom Palomino tan leather covered driver's side lower dash knee bolster.  Ultra rare would be an understatement.  This was taken off a 1988 560SEL that had a full custom leather interior (including a leather and suede upper dashboard, custom leather door panel inserts, custom seat upholstery pattern, and additional front door wood trim)  From my research I am fairly certain this was crafted by Duchatelet as part of their "Carat" package, however I cannot find any markings or part numbers on the knee bolster to indicate it was made my Duchatelet.  I can say the craftsmanship is exquisite, the leather is beautifully fitted especially around all the curves of the part.

The knee bolsters were not found on the Euro / Rest of World cars so to have this on your European Carat edition w126 would be truly amazing. There are two very handy storage areas on the top of the bolster perfect for cell phones, pens, etc.  The leather is of very high quality and can easily be color matched to your interior if necessary.

One of the two plastic inserts are missing (the longer left side part), this is a standard Mercedes Benz part that is easy to find, in fact I may be able to provide this part to the buyer pending a check of my parts inventory.

Add a truly unique item to your Classic Mercedes Benz w126 S Class.  Please see my other items for more hard to find and unique Mercedes-Benz parts.

VW announces seven-passenger CUV at Detroit auto show

Mon, 13 Jan 2014

Last year at the Detroit Auto Show, VW showed the CrossBlue concept. Built on VW's new MQB modular architecture, the CrossBlue was designed to both showcase the versatility of MQB (it also underpins the upcoming Golf, the new Audi A3, as well as SEAT and Skoda models) and illustrate that VW was serious about the seven-passenger market in the United States. Prior to the Frankfurt motor show, we took the CrossBlue for a spin.

More than 200 corners over 37 miles: That's the Isle of Man TT Mountain Course, and Subaru has just released a video of rally driver Mark Higgins lapping it in 19 minutes, 37 seconds. For those keeping score at home, that's an all-time course record, with speeds averaging 115.356 mph. Even more interesting?
