After last week's leak, here is the official announcement of the Renault Alpine A110-50. These new photos reveal a mid-engined sports car shadowing the Renault Dezir, but with an Alpine twist. As hinted at by that name, the A110-50 doffs its cap to the golden anniversary of the original Alpine A110 - as does that Alpine Blue paint job.

Vauxhall Insignia VXR - now good for 170mph
We like the Vauxhall Insignia; it’s a very good car. We like it even more in better-than-warm Vauxhall Insignia VRX guise, where this warmed-over rep-mobile manages to pick up its skirts and scoot to 60mph in 5.6 seconds. Which is all rather appealing.

Porsche watch out! This is the new Nissan GT-R SpecV, with lighter exterior bodywork, a stripped-out interior and more grunt from the 3.8-litre twin-turbo V6 engine. It's just been unveiled in Japan, costs over £100k and Nissan says the new car is ‘targeted specifically at enthusiast drivers who desire race car-level performance in a street-legal vehicle’.
