Ford future products: New vehicles get lighter, faster and move upscale
Mon, 29 Aug 2011Ford Motor Co.'s future-product focus is on improved fuel economy by making its vehicles smaller and engines lighter without sacrificing performance, safety or luxury. It also wants to push the Ford brand more upscale to capture customers orphaned by the shutdown of the Mercury brand, and to attract new buyers with more product offerings. Ford has said 90 percent of its North American nameplates will be available with direct-injection turbocharged EcoBoost engines as standard equipment or as an option by 2013.

The Lamborghini Urus – Lambo’s new SUV offering – took the stage at the Geneva Motor Show in March and, although it received mixed reviews, is certainly heading for production. But the SUV we saw at Geneva is a long way of the real deal; nothing more than a shell to give the world a peek of how the Urus will look.
Jaguar XJ_e PHEV Plug-in Hybrid wins RAC Awards
Tue, 06 Nov 2012The Jaguar XJ_e PHEV plug-in hybrid has won the RAC ‘Most Energy Efficient Luxury Car Prototype’ and ‘Technical Panel’s Award of Merit’. This year, Jaguar rolled out its experimental hybrid XJ – the Jaguar XJ_e, which we saw at this year’s Goodwood Festival of Speed – which managed to win the award for ‘Most Energy Efficient Luxury Car Prototype’ and also grabbed the Technical Panel’s ‘Award of Merit’ for its clever tech and frugal transit. Jaguar entered three XJ_e PHEV experimental cars in to the FCC, which managed to do the Brighton to London run on just 1.2 litres of petrol and 11kWh of electricity which adds up to an mpg of around 125mpg.
