Saab back online as NEVS rebuilds the Saab Brand
Sat, 02 Feb 2013The Saab website has now come back online with NEVS (National Electric Vehicle Sweden) outlining its plans to rebuild the Saab Brand. Back in September the long-running Saab Saga was finally concluded, with the sale of what’s left of Saab after Victor Muller’s little adventure saw Saab left as nothing more than another defunct icon brand from the annuls of motoring history, with NEVS taking control of Saab. The plan is to build a range of electric cars in Trollhattan and China, initially based on the Saab 9-3 platform but eventually developing the Phoenix platform in to the basis for Saab’s future.
Galpin to debut 1,000-hp supercar at Pebble Beach
Thu, 25 Jul 2013Evidently, somebody at Galpin Auto Sports took a look at the dearly missed Ford GT -- there must have been one in their showroom -- and muttered out loud, "You know, this car just isn't rare or powerful enough." At that point, milk shot out of the nostrils of a bystander who had been standing within earshot. Seriously, 550 hp isn't cool. You know what's cool?
2012 Volvo S60 & XC60 R-Design get more oomph
Thu, 21 Apr 2011Volvo V60 R-Design - finally, more get up and go We’re quite partial to the Volvo S60 (actually, we’re even more partial to the Volvo V60) and we like how Volvo’s R-Design pack makes a real impact without making the car look like a boy racer’s wet dream. What’s also nice – in this age of parsimony – is that even if you opt for a lowly diesel version you can still have a Volvo that looks like it gets there in a hurry, even if it doesn’t. But our preference is always for a bit more power, especially if all the visual cues make you smile in anticipation, so we have been know to bemoan the lack of any sort of power boost – even as an add-on option – on Volvo’s R-Design cars.
