PSA Peugeot-Citroen: Factory closures & 8,000 job losses planned

PSA Peugeot Citroen has revealed it is to close one factory, cut job numbers elsewhere and shed a total of 8,000 jobs as demand for its cars dwindles. When we reported last year that Peugeot Citroen were planning to idle their plant in Trnava, Western Slovakia we said that this was just the tip of the iceberg for Peugeot Citroen, and that they would have to take far more drastic action if they were to survive. They must have been listening.

Mazda refines lineup with SkyActiv technology

It turns out Mazda isn't simply shooting for the sky. Rather, the protagonists of Zoom-Zoom driving dynamics are taking an active approach to the brand's DNA: Put it all together: it's called “SkyActiv,” and Mazda is billing the suite of technologies as the pillars of its way forward. Much of these features--which enhance future products in nearly all areas, including engine, transmission and chassis--have already been revealed.

LaFerrari joins Supercar exhibition at Ferrari Museum in Maranello

The new LaFerrari has joined an exhibition of supercars at Ferrari’s Maranello Museum joining cars like the 250 GTO, F40, F50 and Enzo Ferrari. Ferrari boss, Luca di Montezemolo, has opened the Supercar exhibition in Maranello to showcase Ferrari’s greatest models all in one place, an opportunity Ferraristi will find hard to resist. As well as LaFerrari, Ferrari has on show perhaps the greatest supercar in their history – the Ferrari 250 GTO – which was built in very limited numbers – just 33 Series 1 and 3 Series 2 cars – and now commands prices around the $40 million mark, the 288 GTO, the F40 – perhaps the ‘Driver’s’ choice – the F50 and, of course, the Enzo Ferrari.
