Hyundai beefs up its WRC team

Wed, 10 Apr 2013

Hyundai revealed last year that they’re preparing to take on the World Rally Championship (WRC) from 2014 when a rally car based on the i20 will take to the world rally stage to cast some sport fairy dust on Hyundai’s showroom cars. At that time we had little information about the team, but in January we learnt that Hyundai had appointed Michel Nandan to head up their WRC efforts, a good move as Nandon was the technical director for the Peugeot WRC team until 2005, so he knows his stuff. Now we learn that Hyundai is beefing up its WRC team as it prepares for a full season of WRC in 2014.

BMW 9-series concept expected to debut in Beijing

Mon, 07 Apr 2014

BMW will be previewing the upcoming 9-series sedan at the 2014 China Auto Show, according to German magazine Auto Motor und Sport. The extra-long-wheelbase 9-series will take on the 2015 Mercedes-Benz S600 Maybach, which itself is production ready and is set to debut in a matter of months. The 9-series will be positioned alongside the Rolls-Royce Ghost in BMW's global lineup, and is expected to feature packaging and interior appointments similar to that of the S600 Maybach while building upon the design language recently seen in the BMW Pininfarina Gran Lusso Coupe.

Fiat 500 First Edition arrives in China

Fiat 500 First Edition launches the 500 in China The next stage of Fiat’s quest to make the Fiat 500 the world’s favourite retro-cute car hit the world’s biggest market this week. Yep, China got its first Fiat 500s. Now Fiat appears to have made the 500 the current car of choice for the urban trendy American car buyer (a friend in Los Angeles claims they’re proliferating in the trendy areas just like MINI did in London in the early days) it’s time to turn their attention to China, a market with far more potential.
