Mon, 14 May 20121957 Ferrari 625 TRC Spider - sold for €5 million R M Auctions Monaco sale at the weekend achieved sales of €33.5 million with a 1957 Ferrari 625 TRC Spider reaching €5,040,000. Last month we reported on a very rare and very appealing 1957 Ferrari 625 TRC Spider being listed at R M Auctions Monaco sale, which took place this weekend, the first time on sale for 30 years. It sold for a not insignificant €5,040,000.

Actually, whether to keep Maybach on the Daimler life support system is a question that has taxed the brains of many a Mercedes exec, almost since the Maybach brand got its revival under Mercedes and turned in to a cross between a stretched old S-Class, a Playstation and a glitterball. Because despite the efforts of Mercedes to position the Maybach above the S-Class – and in to competition with Rolls Royce and Bentley – the Maybach has somehow conspired to be less desirable than the S-Class.

The new Maybach Zeppelin versions of the 57 and 62 limo revive an old badge from the 1930s, as well as the airship pioneered by Count Ferdinand von Zeppelin at the turn of the twentieth century. The 2009-spec Maybach 57 and 62 Zeppelins have an opinion-dividing contrasting paint job, interior tricks galore – and even a 'world first sophisticated perfume atomiser'.
