For the first time in my lifetime an Alfa Romeo – albeit a little one – was not just reliable, but it was also a sensible buy. So you could buy your little runaround with your heart and your head wouldn’t blow a gasket.

Is there room for another? Apparently so, but since there’s no official name for it yet we’ll call it ‘super-downsizing’ or in other words, using a very small engine in a not so small car.

Festooned with cues from the original 1998 TT – something of a modern classic – the new car marries typical Audi cues with sharper, more aggressive details. It looks awfully close to CAR’s artist’s impression of the new TT in our gallery (see right).
