Outboard engine mounting drill fixture for pre-drilling your boat or pontoon boat transom.

Standard pattern fits most mid to larger size outboards and brands.

Find the center of your boats transom, measuring from the sides parallel to the transom top, measuring from a straight edge placed on the side of the boat, make a mark  at top of transom rear.

Next find the center of the keel, make a mark.

Make a straight line from top mark to bottom mark using a pencil and a straight edge.

Place drill fixture on transom, align marked line to the center of top and bottom center location holes on the fixture plate, then clamp fixture to the transom using a C clamp.

Drill your 4 mounting holes with 1/2" drill bit.

Remove plate, apply sealer around each bolt hole.  Using an overhead hoist or cherry picker crane, hold motor up to line up with holes at the bolt hole height desired.  Apply sealer to the bolts and insert through transom and bolt motor in place.

Note:  sealer not needed on most all pontoon boats.

Thu, 20 Oct 2011

Saab gets funds from North Street Capital Last week we had Saab and their Chinese ‘backers’ getting in a bit of a muddle over funding. Which is what we’ve come to expect. Saab were adamant that the quote attributed to the Pangda Chairman that the Saab deal was no longer valid was a ‘misunderstanding’.

GM to modify Chevrolet Volts to guard against battery fire

General Motors will add a structural reinforcement and devices to prevent overfilling of the battery cooling system in the Chevrolet Volt hybrid sedan to prevent the possibility of a fire after a side crash. The changes come seven months after a Volt caught fire three weeks after being crash-tested by the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration. The government agency in November opened a defect investigation into the Volt because of the battery fire.

Volkswagen Golf R 400 Concept with 395bhp heading for Beijing

Thu, 17 Apr 2014

The VW Golf R 400 can hit 62mph in 3.9 seconds Volkswagen usually reserve their extreme concepts for the Worthersee Show, but they’re heading to next week’s Beijing Motor Show with a very extreme Golf R. The VW Golf R 400 Concept takes the regular Golf R – perhaps the most ‘grown-up’ hot hatch you can buy – and not only adds more power but extreme styling too. That means the 2.0 litre turbo 4-cylinder engine in the Golf R being crankes up to deliver 395bhp (400PS) which cuts the 0-62mph time by a full second over the production Golf R with the DSG ‘box to a supercar-bashing 3.9 seconds.
