Mini paints Rocketman concept, celebrates Britain ahead of Olympics

Mini has updated the 2011 Geneva motor show Rocketman concept to celebrate the 2012 Summer Olympic Games in London. The Rocketman concept couldn't make the leap to production status, we reported in January. Audi Allroad goes e-tron with Detroit concept

Audi introduced its Allroad shooting brake concept at the Detroit auto show on Monday. The plug-in hybrid brings a total output of 408 hp and 480 lb-ft of torque from three power sources, an engine and two electric motors. The transversely mounted 2.0-liter TFSI engine provides 292 hp with help from its turbocharger.

Blame it on the 1993 Montego blue RX-7 parked a block away from my childhood home--and the cover photo of the competition yellow mica R1 gracing one of the other monthly car magazines that year. Either way, it was 1993 when my captivation with the third-generation Mazda RX-7 caught fire. I was 10 years old.
