Audi e-tron Spyder concept
Mon, 18 Oct 2010Audi revealed the latest iteration of its e-tron product range in the form of the Spyder concept at the 2010 Paris motor show. The roadster showcases the brand's plug-in hybrid technology cloaked in an emotional two seat package. Measuring 4060mm long, 1810mm wide and 1110mm high, the Spyder is only slightly larger than the electric e-tron concept shown in Detroit earlier this year.
Fewer people being killed in car-truck collisions, study finds
Wed, 28 Sep 2011Death rates in crashes between big trucks and cars dropped 64 percent in 2008-09 compared with 2000-01, according to an insurance-industry study of government data. The Insurance Institute for Highway Safety cited changes in vehicle design, particularly for SUVs and pickups, as a key factor in the decline. The number of deaths for car and minivan passengers involved in crashes with larger vehicles fell from 44 per million in 2000-01 to 16 deaths per million in 2008-09, the study found.
Chrysler sold in £3.76 billion deal

In one of the biggest private equity deals seen in the automotive industry, Cerberus Capital Management has purchased 80.1% of Chrysler in a £3.76billion deal, leaving DaimlerChrysler with the remaining 19.9% stake in the loss-making company. The move marks the close of arguably the most high-profile transatlantic merger and shuts the door on Canadian car assembly giant Magna and billionaire Kirk Kerkorian, who last month offered £2.27billion for Chrysler.
