Used. Complete ignition system off late 1970's 80 HP 4-cyl. Throws big hot spark and wiring good.

I am showing stock pic of pickup unit for reference; you get a WORKING pickup and distributor body with FOUR cylinder trigger wheel installed plus all the other parts listed for complete working ignition system. Note price of new pickup alone is over $300; this one's good used, assembled, and ready to bolt up! If you have 6-cyl Tower of Power you will need to swap in your old trigger disk and the cap. Part number shown in Item Specifics is just one of the several interchanges; number was superceded several times.

Genuine OEM Mercury parts pulled from a late 1970's Mercury 4-cyl 80 HP with distributor ignition. Same system will fit 1970 thru '79 4-cyl and 6-cyl Mercury outboards 65 HP and up; it won't fit a 50 HP and check with your mechanic to see if you can use it on a 3-banger.  Note distributor cap attaches with stainless-steel clamp band; distributors '69 and down had caps that screwed to the distributor housing. If you have that system, check w/ your mechanic or reliable data source for interchange. The coil and powerpack would be the same, though. Motor has bad primary compression in bottom cylinder so it's being parted; the ignition components are in above-average condition for used parts of this vintage. It throws a hot spark and the wiring leads have good intact insulation that isn't brittle which is rare for an older Merc. You'd pay almost this much for a PICKUP UNIT for these motors; check around the board. You probably will need replacement spark plug leads but I'll include the ones I have; they're delivering voltage to the plugs. Check my FB and bid with confidence. Please Ask-a-Question if you have any, well, questions about this item; I'm here to help you get your vintage outboard up&running for cheap dough. Thanks for looking.

Imre Molnar's lasting legacy

When I hear people use the words "senseless" or "tragic" to qualify death, the grammarian in me shudders. It seems they're modifying an absolute -- like saying "very unique," which by the definition of unique means one of a kind and can't be modified further. Of course, the majority of deaths are senseless and tragic, so to qualify it darkens the lily.

Mon, 09 Mar 2009

A head-turning burgundy 1932 Ford B400 took home top honors at Detroit's Autorama on Sunday, winning the coveted Ridler award over seven other finalists. Dubbed the "Deucenberg V8," the car is designed to be an elegant hot rod, drawing on cues from the luxurious Duesenbergs of that era. It has an aluminum lift-off roof with cloth top, suicide doors, a stretched hood and leather interior.

By Gavin Green Motor Industry 17 June 2014 09:44 It seems 903bhp may not be enough. Ron Dennis – back in charge of McLaren Group as CEO after two years of hands-off frustration – confides that some owners of the P1 hypercar are demanding ‘something a bit more edgy’. Perhaps there’ll be a second chapter in the P1 story; 375 hand-built cars have already sold out to wealthy enthusiasts.
