Mercury Outboard Lower Unit 40 -70 Hp 1971-84 Completely Serviced on 2040-parts.com
Indianapolis, Indiana, United States
This lower unit was removed from a 1978 Mercury 50 Hp [500] [4 cylinder 2 - stroke] The shift shaft has 6 splines, the drive shaft is (long shaft) 21" and has 11 splines, the prop shaft has 13 splines. It fits 40-70 HP motors from 1971 1984, but it does not have the speedometer hook up that is used on some later motors. If you aren't using the speedometer then you can use it on later motors. This unit has been entirely gone through and EVERY rubber item has been replaced, including: the shift shaft seal and O ring, the seals under the water pump (2) and O ring, the prop shaft seals (2) and O ring, the impeller, the rubber washer on the top of the water pump and the rubber grommet where the water tube is inserted are all new. This unit has not seen a lot of use, it was used on a pontoon boat in fresh water, the gears, bearings and shafts are all in excellent condition. In addition this unit has stainless steel drive and prop shafts so you won't have trouble with shaft corrosion, pitting and eventual seal leakage. This has the shift cam that has a stainless steel cover as opposed to the plastic ones that get chewed up. It has been refilled with fresh lube and is ready to mount on your motor. Every item has been checked and it is ready to go. This unit has over $75 in new parts. If you buy something used that hasn't been gone though you'll spend that much even if you do all the work yourself. This unit is ready to bolt on you motor and all the work has been done. |

Honda Civic Tourer (2013) at Frankfurt motor show
Sun, 11 Aug 2013The new Honda Civic Tourer might just be a better looker than its hatchback brother. Binning the split rear window tailgate and forming a ‘floating roofline’ makes for a decent-looking estate – but we expected that after clapping eyes on the concept car. What we can tell you is the showroom-ready Civic Tourer has the biggest boot in the compact estate class, and employs similar suspension technology to that of a Golf GTI – or an Audi R8.
