Mercury Outboard Starter Early Model 650 850 4-Cyl Part 50-45822 & Others, image 1
Used. American-made starter not Chi-Com knock-off. Used but cranks strong; how can you beat the price?
Brand:Mercury Country//Region of Manufacture:United States Manufacturer Part Number:50-45822

Genuine OEM Mercury brand starter manufactured by Prestolite as were starters and ignition components for nearly all makes of outboards Back in the Day. Pulled from a 1960's Mercury 4-cyl model 650 65 HP with distributor ignition. Same starter would fit the model 850 [85 HP] 4-cylinder from same range of model years. Note this attaches to motor with two vertical bolts and a bracket on the bottom that attaches to two crankcase bolts; later starters generally use rubber mounts and two 'cap' type clamps. I am including the lower bracket to facilitate fast, easy installation. Also included is the starter solenoid that's mounted directly to the starter housing. Check my FB and bid with confidence.Web search indicates a new one [probably Chinese knock-off!] sells for at least $159.
