It is hoped that the decision to allow staged rallies, hill climbs and trials of speed on closed-road street circuits will give the country’s motorsport industry a jump start. Prime minister David Cameron made the announcement today while touring the new Formula One Williams factory in Oxfordshire.

This year marks a milestone for the event, as a record 84 motor clubs have already signed up to attend. According to event management, this number beats the grand total of 77 clubs who attended the 2013 event.

GM recalls the Chevrolet Cruze for possible steering problems

General Motors said on Wednesday that it will recall 154,112 Chevrolet Cruze sedans to check for a problem with the steering shaft. A GM spokesman said the issue was discovered when a customer lost steering control in a parking lot but did not have an accident. GM says no accidents have occurred because of the problem.
