Beijing motor show: China means (auto) business

Tue, 22 Apr 2008

By Guy Bird Motor Shows 22 April 2008 05:34 Only a fool wandering around this week's Beijing motor show would still dismiss China as some also-ran automotive market full of rip-off designs and outdated ‘new’ cars based on old Western designs. While all of those clichés were still in evidence at the Chinese auto show, the copycat mentality is much less obvious than even a year ago at last year's Shanghai show. Classic Ferrari becomes most expensive car ever sold in UK

Fri, 31 Jan 2014

This 1957 Ferrari 250 TR – or Testarossa – has just become the most expensive car ever sold in the UK outside of an auction. The exact figure paid is undisclosed, but is said to be in excess of the previous record-holder, a Ferrari 250 GTO that sold for £22.5 million in 2012. Yes folks, if you’ve got the cash, classic Ferraris are where it’s at in the investment world right now.

John Pope Special: the Vauxhall with an Aston Martin engine for sale

Tue, 08 Oct 2013

The eBay description says it all: "Vauxhall Magnum with an Aston Martin DBS V8 twin turbo engine fitted. DBS running gear, raced between 1973 and 1981." If that doesn't get the high octane petrol running through your veins, nothing will. It's called the John Pope Special and it started life as two cars - an accident damaged Aston Martin DBS V8 and a Vauxhall Magnum donated by Vauxhall.
