BMW 7-series (2009) first pictures

Sat, 05 Jul 2008

By Ben Pulman First Official Pictures 05 July 2008 00:00 This is BMW’s fifth-generation 7-series, and despite looks inspired by the Concept CS, if we’re honest the new car doesn’t look much different from the old car. Worry not though, as there are plenty of technical highlights to surprise and delight. Rear-wheel steer, Efficient Dynamics technology, night-vision, unrestricted internet access, a revised iDrive system and an all-new 3.0-litre diesel engine stand out.

Lightning GT

Thu, 24 Jul 2008

The Lightning GT is a fresh take on all-electric mobility; a performance car with unabashed sports car proportions. Made from carbon skin draped over the chassis architecture, the dynamic shape features bulging wheelarches and creased feature lines running from front to rear. By combining these classic, British sports car design cues with state of the art battery power and innovative electric motors, the Lightning follows the path of the Tesla Roadster and has been developed with the goal of generating exhilarating performance.

Mercedes shows the future of crash protection

Tue, 09 Jun 2009

By Mark Nichol Motor Industry 09 June 2009 10:00 It might look familiar, but the Mercedes ESF 2009 concept is about as futuristic as they come. Ostensibly an S400 Hybrid, the car showcases the very latest Mercedes safety technology, some of which will be in mainstream models soon, and some of which is, frankly, pure fantasy mollycoddling. The concept will be officially unveiled next week, but CAR has already been to the company’s Stuttgart base for a sneak preview.
