I acquired this spare engine with an MGC purchase.

This is for a low mileage MGC engine that is in very good condition. This engine was completely dis-assembled and inspected for condition and parts replaced as needed. The block has been sleeved to standard, standard pistons with new rings, standard rod bearings and main bearings clearances are .0015” to .002,,,  Cylinder bores were honed, standard crankshaft polished, end float clearance is .003…Head has been recondition, distributor and alternator refurbished, carburetors rebuilt, water pump rebuilt, oil pump and oil filter housing inspected for condition, oil galleys cleaned, timing chain and chain tensioner inspected, all seals and gaskets replaced. Block water jacket flushed and cleaned, all freeze plugs replaced. The spark plugs, wires, distributor cap and rotor and points are new. This engine needs nothing and is ready to go.

This engine is set up for the four speed transmission (flywheel included) and the crank pilot bushing is for the four speed gearbox. This engine can be used with the automatic gearbox and the crank will need the pilot bushing for the automatic, and torque converter.

Alfa Romeo Art Car by Louise Childs Alfa Romeo are pushing quite a few PR buttons with the congestion charge busting Alfa MiTo 1.3 JTDM-2 85bhp, the latest of which is the ‘Art Car’ in the photo above. Recently, we had Alfa pitting the MiTo 1.3 JTDM-2 85bhp in a race around London against an athlete. On the face of it that race was to promote UK Athletics (sponsored by Alfa Romeo) but a big part, and the reason for the ‘London’ angle, is that the latest MiTo emits just 95g/km – the perfect London car.

German Grand Prix (2014): RESULT The plan by Mercedes to get a one-two on the grid at the German Grand Prix went awry when Hamilton crashed out in qualifying, but Nico Rosberg starts his – and Mercedes – home Grand Prix in pole position, even if poor Lewis Hamilton languishes at the back of the grid after his brake failure in qualifying. So the 2014 German Grand Prix should be about Hamilton’s quest to reach the Williams cars in second and third, and Rosberg’s disappearance in to the distance. Which it is, but with knobs on.

Councils urged to shun yellow lines

COUNCILS are being asked to cut unsightly yellow lines as part of a Government drive to rid the streets of clutter. Local Transport Minister Norman Baker has urged local authorities to think about using restricted parking zones, instead of automatically opting to use yellow lines to control parking, particularly in single streets and environmentally-sensitive areas in towns and cities. Restricted parking zones require a limited number of signs which tell motorists if they can or can not park and during which times and are considered less intrusive than conventional yellow lines.
