Tue, 31 Dec 2013

Tesla Motors Tesla has made a real splash in the electric-car scene, so it should come as no surprise that its success is generating renewed interest in the fledgling start-up. Veteran auto industry analyst Yra Harris, of Praxis Trading, told CNBC that GM may make a bid for Elon Musk's electric vehicle (EV) specialist in the coming months.

Power hike for Porsche Boxster

Thu, 19 Oct 2006

By Phil McNamara Motor Industry 19 October 2006 02:37 Porsche has upgraded its two Boxster models, by transplanting the Cayman coupe's punchier flat six engines. The base Cayman cabriolet – sorry, Boxster – now gets a smidgen more power and torque from its 2.7-litre unit, with outputs climbing to 245bhp and 201lb ft. The tweaks shave a tenth off the 0-62mph sprint, reducing it to 6.1sec, and improve fuel economy by 1mpg to 30.4.

New SEAT Leon goes in to production

Sun, 28 Oct 2012

The new SEAT Leon (2013) – revealed at the Paris Motor Show – has started production in Spain ahead of first deliveries in March 2013. SEAT has invested heavily in the Martorell plant in recent years – a shining light of success in a sea of Spanish manufacturing despair – with a £650 million investment in new facilities and R&D making Martorell a modern and efficient facility for the new Leon as well as the Ibiza, Altea and Exeo (and the Audi Q3). Not only has the investment in Martorell secured the jobs of 1600 Spanish workers (and four times as many in the supply chain), it promise more jobs too if the Leon turns out to be as appealing as it looks.
