Audi to offer Apple and Android smartphone integration from 2015

By Adam Binnie Motor Industry 07 July 2014 11:48 Audi drivers will soon be able to use smartphone functions in their cars, as the company becomes the latest to adopt new integration technology from Android and Apple. Google’s Android Auto and Apple’s CarPlay software platforms will be available from 2015, in what Audi describes as a ‘milestone in smartphone integration’. The system will eventually allow Audi drivers to connect their smartphone to the car’s Multi Media Interface to make calls, send and receive messages, as well as getting directions and playing music.

Jaguar hybrid cars due in 2013-14

Jaguar will launch its own hybrid vehicles soon after Land Rover, CAR can confirm. Parent company Jaguar Land Rover is developing battery-assisted hybrid versions for both brands but its strategy puts part-electric Land Rovers first on the launchpad in 2013.Hybrid Jaguars – set to include the XJ and XF, but eventually every model – are therefore likely to be on the market by 2013-2014, using a similar eight-speed ZF hybrid transmission to petrol-electric BMWs.The staggered roll-out of battery Jags and Land Rovers makes sense: heavy 4x4s have come in the firing line from green protestors who label them Chelsea Tractors. Lamborghini Gallardo Spyder: RWD LP550-2 here in 2012

Sant'Agata plans a two-wheel drive version of the Lamborghini Gallardo Spyder – reflecting 2009's limited-series rear-wheel drive Balboni edition of the Gallardo coupe. Sales of the new rear-drive LP550-2 Spyder will start in early 2012, Lambo has confirmed to CAR. It will look the same as any other Gallardo convertible; the only changes will be to the hardware under the skin.
