So seriously have VW taken WRC – and so well prepared were they – that Sebastian Ogier has already taken the 2013 drivers gong in WRC (from the previous – long term – incumbent Sebastian Loeb) with three races left, in his 315bhp, 4WD Polo R, and VW look set to take the team title too.

Sir Stirling Moss, 81, retires from racing

While participating in a live interview with Joe Bradley of RadioLeMans.com on Thursday, Sir Stirling Moss announced his retirement from the sport that he loves. "This afternoon I scared myself, and I have always said that if I felt I was not up to it or that I was getting in the way of fellow competitors, then I would retire," Moss said. Moss is one of the most recognizable figures in motorsports, with a career that has spanned more than 60 years.
