Removed from 2012 Pro-RMK 800 155, "S12CG8 800 PRO RMK 155". Bought this cylinder new the summer of 2014. Installed, ran for 1475mi/99.7hrs with SPI pistons. Piston skirt failed, tore up bottom end. Cylinder has been cleaned, honed through, and re-cleaned. It has NOT been replated - only honed - so there is some evidence of use in the bore. The wear isn't deep enough that I'd worry about it; I wouldn't hesitate to throw this cylinder in a motor with a new set of pistons and run it. Good crosshatch over the bore. Hyundai makes Kia’s Peter Schreyer Hyundai design guru too
Sun, 13 Jan 2013The newly appointed Kia President, Peter Schreyer, has now been made Hyundai President in charge of design too. Peter Schreyer’s success in making Kia a real design force led to him being appointed a Kia President at the end of 2012, handsome reward for the changes he’s wrought at Kia since leaving VW, turning Kia’s range of cars from stodgy to convincing in a few short years. But Kia is the junior partner in the Hyundai-Kia business, so Hyundai are obviously not totally thrilled that Kia managed to snaffle a designer who’s eye manages to so convincingly hit the Zeitgeist firmly on the head.
Ford Escort returns – for China: Shanghai Motor Show
Sun, 21 Apr 2013The Ford Escort Concept has been built by Ford with the aim of taking a sizeable chunk of China’s compact saloon market – estimated at 5.5 million sales a year – and looks remarkably production viable and far from ‘budget’. Escort is a badge China knows – there are plenty of old Escorts floating around Chinese roads – so it’s a sensible move by Ford to revive a badge that already resonates as a compact, affordable saloon with Chinese car buyers. This new Escort gets a proper version of Ford’s latest design language – including the Aston Martin grill – and has good lines and strong detail including jeweled headlights with the lucky Chinese ’8′ discernible ; it looks entirely cohesive and nothing like a Focus with a boot grafted on.
