Tyre warning for drivers heading into Europe
Mon, 13 Jan 2014BRITISH DRIVERS could face on the spot fines for using the wrong tyres when travelling in Europe this winter. Severe winter weather in many European countries means the normal summer tyres fitted to most UK cars will not offer enough grip for safe driving or braking in icy or snowy conditions. In Germany and some ski resorts, drivers are liable to on-the-spot fines if their car is not equipped with winter tyres or their car becomes stuck in slippery conditions due to the wrong tyres being fitted.

And if we told you that not only was it a brand spanking new Golf, but it came with alloys, touch-screen stereo with CD changer, AirCon, electric windows and electric door mirrors, would that make it even more appealing? This brand new Golf is powered along by a perfectly decent 101bhp, 1.6 litre petrol lump which, although not the pick of the range, is a perfectly good lump with acceptable performance and economy.
Concept Car of the Week: AMC Amitron (1967)

Designed under Richard Teague's supervision, the quirky Amitron was unveiled in 1967 in a hotel in Detroit. Measuring less than 2,200mm long, it is 350mm shorter than a Smart Fortwo and its wide track gave room for three passengers seating abreast.
