Cars of the future could be powered by seawater

Water from the sea could power cars of the future, if experiments currently being trialled by the US Navy prove to be successful. According to Jalopnik, the US Naval Research Laboratory is turning carbon dioxide from seawater into hydrogen, with the hope of fuelling its jets from alternative sources. 1970 DeTomaso Mangusta: Bring a Trailer special

The name means “mongoose” in Italian, and even if this American half-breed never killed a Cobra on the track, in the looks department it’s still lethal. DeTomaso built 401 Mangusta sports cars from 1967 to 1971 before it was axed in favor of the ubiquitous Pantera--a styling step backward in the eyes of your humble author. The Mangusta formula was the same as that for Pantera: a Ford V8 engine (albeit a 302 rather than a 351C) midships in a sleek Italian body.

Vettel F1 helmet sold for £72,000

A HELMET belonging to four times World Formula 1 champion Sebastian Vettel has been sold for a world record £72,000 in a charity auction. The safety gear, signed by Vettel himself, was a Red Bull-sponsored helmet by Arai designed around Germany's national colours. It was worn during the Nurburgring Grand Prix race weekend in Germany this year - where Vettel celebrated his first home victory.
