BMW i8 revealed: The BMW Vision ED lives
Fri, 29 Jul 2011BMW i8 Revealed Today BMW reveals the i8 Concept, the production concept of the Vision EfficientDynamics supercar we saw back in 2009 and, for BMW, their way forward in a more eco-conscious world. But being aware of the climate doesn’t mean the joy has to be taken from the drive, and the BMW i8 aims to offer a car which can claim a green halo be also be a stimulating and appealing car for the petrolhead. The i8 is remarkably similar to the original Vision ED Concept, although it has dumped the 1.5 litre diesel the Concept has for a new 1.5 litre petrol engine with direct injection which develops 220bhp and 221lb/ft of torque.
Vauxhall Corsa VXR (2007): first official pictures
Wed, 03 Jan 2007By Tim Pollard First Official Pictures 03 January 2007 00:01 Vauxhall Corsa VXR: the lowdown Vauxhall will unleash its hottest-ever supermini in March: the 190bhp Corsa VXR. In keeping with the UK-only VXR branding, the hot hatch will be spruced up with a butch bodykit, a series of chassis tweaks and a turbocharged version of Vauxhall's 1.6-litre engine. Vauxhall's previous sporting superminis have left us lukewarm, but this latest one promises some fireworks in the engine department: the company quotes 0-62mph in just 6.8sec, and it tops out at 140mph.
BAC Mono moves to Liverpool
Wed, 10 Jul 2013The BAC Mono with brothers Brigg & Mayor of Liverpool (pictured) The BAC Mono is in the public eye this week after its impressive performance on Top Gear, but even without the publicity from Top Gear the brothers Brigg were already doing very well with the Mono. So well, they’ve been looking for new premises to continue their growth and have settled on a move from Cheshire to Liverpool (just up the road) and a new facility on the Speke Hall Industrial Estate in South Liverpool is set to become the new home of the Mono. BAC’s new home in Speke will be up and running by the autumn, will create an additional 60 jobs in the local economy – and more in the supply chain – and is expected to turn out more than 100 Monos a year by 2015.
