Mopar 426 Max Wedge Marine Block 413 440 Dodge Plymouth Street on 2040-parts.com
Freedom, California, United States
mopar 426 block..#2406730-1,,,AAQA 2R casting,,casting date,,11-5-63...std bore..very slight ring ridge..could clean up with just a hone at the top and go,,just depends on what u want to do...back in the day it was very common because these blocks are so thick that a racer would continue boring them out as far as .100 over and use .030 over 440 pistons!no need here though,,just sayin.the blocks are all the same between max wedge/street wedge/marine...same casting numbers etc...the ONLY diff is the stamping on the pad and the machine reliefs in the cylinders for the bigger valves..and the 1/2" oil pick up..thats it....BTW,,the internals were max parts....#395 max rods...11-1 max pistons..and crank....
marine blocks like this 1 were stamped just like the max wedge's..426 MAR=size and application..the arrow indicates rotation direction,,this is std,,,dual motor applications,1 turned backwards..WT=water test,,,and 1-14-64=JAN/14th day of month,,and 64 could either be the year or the 64th motor built that day....on max motors it indicates sequentional engine built on that day...anyway...just had it hot tanked and magnafluxed,,,all good,,except for 2 hairline cracks outside on both center freeze plugs.it sat out doors for 20 years..its weather related..not high performance run related...a big difference....extremely minor fix.u could also just use some bars leak and be done with it,,,after all..some of the new car manf r shipping cars today with bars leak in them new from the factory....if it was the main web or else where it would be a bigger problem but anything can be fixed today.. there are several cast iron repair companies here in central California. these blocks are very rare,,and rarer yet in std bore.. see pics..sold as is....pick up only...or I can strap to a pallet for your shipper to pick up....... |

Hardly your average DRIVe Volvo By Tim Pollard First Official Pictures 22 April 2010 17:25 No, we hadn't heard of the Gothenburg motor show, either. But appropriately enough, given the Volvo sale to China's Geely, it overlaps perfectly with the 2010 Beijing auto show – and was the launchpad of the homegrown Volvo C30 Performance Car Prototype. This Volvo concept car was produced by Polestar Performance, the people behind the company's Swedish Touring Car team.
Earle stays with Monterey Historics for another year
Thu, 27 Aug 2009Maybe the 2010 Historics won't be so different after all. Last week, the day after the Monterey Historics concluded, founder and producer Steve Earle announced that he and his company, General Racing, would no longer be producing that well-loved event. But on Thursday, in an interesting change, Mazda Raceway Laguna Seca announced that Earle will be one of five selection-committee members planning next year's Monterey Historics race.
Highway Code braking distances questioned
Thu, 14 Aug 2014THE ACCURACY of facts and figures in the Highway Code has been called into question after research by the RAC showed that many drivers underestimate official stopping distances. As part of the organisation's Report on Motoring 2014, drivers were asked to identify the Highway Code's stated stopping distances from different speeds, but the majority “seriously underestimated” the figures. However, a separate survey by Right Driver of 1,000 Advanced Driving Instructors (ADIs) revealed that the vast majority strongly believe that the official braking distances have become irrelevant and should be updated.
