All Eagle H-beam rods are forged from certified 4340 chromoly steel. While a lot of companies make rods from this material, if you pay close attention, you will notice not all 4340 is the same. For instance, to be classified as "4340 steel" certain alloying elements must be present in certain percentages. AISI/SAE specifications call for 1.65% to 2.00% nickel content. While this seems like a small difference, understand that this is almost an 18% variation. 4340 steel with 1.65% nickel will act a little differently than 4340 steel with 2.00% nickel content. This is just one of many alloying elements involved in creating 4340 steel. Through extensive material testing, Eagle works closely with the foundry we use to achieve a much tighter tolerance of all alloying elements to our specific requirements. Along with this, the heat treatment and tempering process used is vital to producing a very strong steel. While exactly what we do is a closely guarded secret, all of this attention to detail results in a stronger and much more consistent material. Our "4340" steel routinely tests 10-15% stronger than "typical steel"

Is saving a few bucks really worth the cost of throwing a rod and blowing your entire engine assembly? No, it’s not!

Eagle “ESP” 3-D Rods are manufactured from a TWO-PIECE FORGING using USA 4340 Steel. The forging process forces the grain into the shape of a connecting rod, resulting in a superior fatigue life. The rod cap is forged separately so that the grain runs perpendicular to the load forces, witch strengthens the rod. Although it is a more expensive process, all Eagles 3-D rods are forged form a much higher content of nickel & chrome, witch increases the strength & fatigue life without making the rod brittle. Dollar for dollar, Eagle rods are the best on the planet.

Automotive review of 2013: the best - and worst - cars and motoring moments

Fri, 27 Dec 2013

This year marked the 60th anniversary of the Corvette, and Chevrolet marked the occasion in style by launching an all-new model back in January 2013 – the seventh generation of the 'Vette. Instantly recognisable as a Corvette, the new model packs a 6.2-litre V8 rated at 460bhp. Best of all though is the news that the road racer will reach UK dealerships next autumn, priced from £61,495.

OnStar 'ignition block' disables stolen vehicles

Tue, 21 Jul 2009

OnStar, General Motors' in-vehicle safety and communications system, has launched a service to keep car thieves from starting a vehicle that has been reported stolen. As of July 20, three stolen cars had been disabled by the technology, called "remote ignition block." The feature is available on select 2009 and 2010 GM models. Subscribers must report their vehicles stolen to police officials and request assistance from OnStar, which then sends a signal that prevents the car from restarting.

Nissan's Qashqai grabs top award

Thu, 10 Oct 2013

NISSAN'S Qashqai crossover has been voted ‘Used Car of the Year’ by used car pricing experts CAP – for the second year in a row. A panel of judges comprising of used car market and vehicle valuation experts at CAP said: “The Nissan Qashqai has created an entirely new ‘crossover’ sector and prompted other manufacturers to follow by marrying the practicality of a people carrier with the looks of a quality 4x4. By achieving this in a package that also offers economy, handling, strong build quality and reliability the Qashqai has become the perfect used car for our time.” The panel noted that strong demand meant the Qashqai was always highly sought after by trade buyers and customers alike, meaning it depreciated slowly and outperformed the general market.
