2009 Jaguar XKR is unveiled

The 2009 Jaguar XKR - Quicker, more economical and better equipped We brought you the first undisguised pictures of Jaguar’s updated XK a few days ago, and Jaguar has now officially unveiled the XKR at the Detroit Motor Show. As we reported, the styling updates, although modest, do freshen the car up nicely and make it feel more current. VW planning sub compact SUV / Crossover below Tiguan

VW planning Juke competitor Volkswagen has revealed they are planning a compact SUV / Crossover to sit below the Tiguan. Just last week Volkswagen revealed the Cross Coupe, a compact hybrid SUV, smaller than a Tiguan but bigger than a Golf. And now VW design boss Walter de Silva has revealed VW are planning a sub-compact SUV.

Cautious welcome for fuel duty freeze

MOTORING groups have given a cautious welcome to Chancellor George Osborne's announcement of a freeze on fuel duty until May 2015. Both the AA and the RAC pointed out that Mr Osborne was already getting big sums from motorists in taxation. Professor Stephen Glaister, director of the RAC Foundation, said: "Transport is the single biggest area of household expenditure bar none and our own research shows that 800,000 of the poorest households are in transport poverty, spending a quarter or more of their income on running a car.
