Smoking in cars to be banned
Tue, 11 Feb 2014MPs in the House of Commons have voted in favour of amendment to the Children and Families Bill, thereby recommending a ban on smoking in cars when there are children present in England. The vote does not force the government to bring such a change into law, but has passed with a substantial majority and the recommendation is seen to have substantial public support. And we knew – because they ‘hinted’ at it when we spoke to them last week – that the whole Top Gear segment had more than a little to do with the Paramount Group in South Africa, purveyors of innovative armoured vehicles. So, as suspected, we were treated to Richard conquering the Urban Jungle of Johannesburg in the Paramount Marauder, an aptly-named, go anywhere, seemingly indestructible piece of military hardware made street-legal.
London Road Safety Figures 'Encouraging'
Thu, 12 Jun 2014NEW figures released show that deaths and serious injuries on London's roads fell to a record low last year. A total of 132 people were killed on the UK capital's streets in 2013. This was compared to 134 in 2012 and forms the second-lowest annual total, according to Transport for London (TfL) figures.
