Thu, 25 Nov 2010The McLaren MP4-12C GT3 spotted out testing Yesterday we had the announcement that the McLaren MP4-12C will cost £168,500 when it goes on sale next year. We also had the rebuttal from Ferrari who told Cars UK that the Ferrari 458 Italia actually offered better value despite the apparent price difference. Now we have another reason for Ferrari and McLaren to bicker – the McLaren MP4-12C GT3.
Koenigsegg can take the P1, LaFerrari & Huayra with the Agera R
Sat, 16 Mar 2013Koenigsegg believe that the Agera R has more than the measure of the new toys at Geneva – LaFerrari and McLaren P1 – and Pagani’s Huayra lap at Top Gear was a farce. But a car that was also at Geneva was the Koenigsegg Hundra, Koenigsegg’s one-off special to celebrate 100 Koenigseggs built since Christian von Koenigsegg started bolted his immense supercars together in a shed in Sweden a decade ago. So we thought it would be interesting to chat to Koenigsegg people – including Koenigsegg’s UK dealer Supervettura – and get their thoughts on the new batch of supercars that could perhaps take some gloss off the offerings from Koenigsegg.
New Range Rover Hybrid targeted at Europe: Frankfurt 2013
Wed, 11 Sep 2013The new Range Rover Hybrid (pictured) has diesel power to target Europe It’s not the biggest news at Frankfurt, but the arrival of the Range Rover Hybrid and Range Rover Sport Hybrid is big news for Land Rover, and for buyers running cars who are subject to taxation on benefits. Surprisingly, Land Rover has gone the diesel route with the hybrid, coupling the 3.0 litre diesel engine to a 46bhp electric motor which, when working together, offers the same sort of performance as the V8 diesel engine but with much better economy and emissions – 44mpg and 169g/km. Logic would perhaps have dictated that the new hybrid should have a petrol engine, rather than a diesel, as the biggest hybrid markets in the world – the US and China – have no real appetite for diesel engines.
